Job Description

Salary: Competitive

Deadline : 23rd July 2018

Location : Southampton

If someone told you, you could qualify as a solicitor in 6 years, without going to university, while earning a good salary and developing amazing skills and experience along the way, would you believe them? Well you should! Our Solicitor Apprenticeship does just that. We know that university isn't for everyone, but that shouldn't be the end of a successful legal career; in fact, it could be just the beginning with us. Having launched our first Solicitor Apprenticeship programme in September 2017, we're now looking to roll out for a second year in our Southampton office. We're looking for two talented future lawyers to join our Real Estate team in Southampton at the start of what is an incredibly exciting new programme. You'll be the first of our Solicitor Apprentices in this team, which presents you with a unique opportunity to shape the future of our programme. So, not only do you get to qualify as a solicitor, without University and the associated costs, you'll also have a significant impact on the future of our business. Now how does that sound for starters?

If you're worried that this is new, don’t be. We've a great track record in recruiting, developing and retaining apprentices. In fact we've been recognised in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers as well as bagging the award for Best Newcomer Large Employer of the Year at the National Apprenticeship Awards – those accolades don't get much better, and we're so very proud to have been honoured for the programme that we've been running since 2014. So, we think we're pretty good at this, but don't take our word for it, check out our YouTube channel to hear first-hand from some of our legal apprentices.

Okay, I hear you ask, "What will I actually be doing?" We can promise you it's not all admin and filing. This is a real opportunity to contribute to the future success of our business. We're training our next generation of lawyers and that means giving you access to great quality work that will increase in complexity as you develop through the programme. So be prepared for a gentle introduction to the business which might include spending some time in our business support teams, so that you really get to understand how our business works. As you move into more of a legal role, we'll start you off gently with some of the more administrative duties so that you gain your confidence before taking on the more complex legal tasks. But don't worry, you'll be supported every step of the way with a dedicated supervisor, mentor and HR support. We're all rooting for you and want you to succeed, so we'll do everything in our power to make sure that happens.

They'll be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved with some of the wider business activities. We've an active sports and social committee who organise regular events which will allow you to get to know your colleagues a little better. We also have a strong focus on corporate social responsibility and there are plenty of community projects or charitable initiatives for you to get involved with. In fact, we'll even give you two volunteering days a year, on top of your holiday entitlement.

It sounds so good, even we might apply!

We're looking for candidates with good academics; BBB at A-levels as a minimum. Beyond that, we'll be looking for you to demonstrate a few core skills: team-working, communication, creative and analytical thinking, an ability to build strong and lasting relationships and a drive to succeed.

If it's an easy decision, then get your application in soon; our closing date is 23 July, with our selection week running during the week commencing 16 August. Just complete the application form from the link below, and we'll get in touch once our application deadline passes to let you know what the next steps are. Our selection process involves a mini work placement with the team to give you an opportunity to decide whether we're the right environment for you.

If the timing isn't quite right for you, or this isn't the programme that you're looking for, you can keep in touch through our various social media channels for regular updates on the opportunities that might suit you best.
