What you will do

We are offering a full-time permanent Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship Program for talented people. Working in the Global Marine Services (GMS) UK group, reporting to the Fleet Support Manager.
The GMS department is responsible for all ‘after sales’ work associated with equipment sold by the Global Marine & Navy (GMN) Division. This includes preventative and corrective maintenance, technical support, retrofits & upgrades, spares parts supply, engineering design studies, logistic support tasks, etc.
Ultimately, once trained and qualified, this role is responsible for the in-service support of all product manufactured and supplied by the Global Marine & Navy department, primarily equipment installed on Royal Navy vessels. The diverse range of HVAC&R equipment offered by GMN requires the technician to be extremely versatile with the ability to adapt to new equipment and technology as it enters the marketplace.
This is a mobile role, working primarily in the south and southwest of the UK, but may also require both national and international travel.
How you will do it
Shadowing one of the GMS UK Specialist Technicians, until suitably qualified and experienced to work alone, this role will include:
Carrying out maintenance tasks (planned and reactive), repairs, fault diagnosis, overhauls and retrofits as required on the full range of product supplied by the company
Installation of equipment on-board vessels, including system piping, wiring, etc., as required by the contract
Commission and set-to-work equipment, including chilled water plants, refrigeration systems, and HVAC equipment. Conduct necessary proving trials as required, HAT/SAT/CST
Conduct regular equipment state assessment and health checks
When required, assist with work in Basildon build facility. This could include equipment assembly and testing
Work with design & manufacturing groups to provide in service feedback on equipment thus ensuring continuous improvement of product is maintained
Advise sales department of potential work & if required provide information necessary to generate accurate customer quotation
Maintain accurate records of work conducted, provide clear and concise reports including detailed information on possible emergent work
Encourage and ensure a safe working environment for themselves, our customers, contractors, suppliers and agents
What we look for
BTEC in Engineering/ IT Level 2 or 4, Leaving Certificate at Grade C minimum - in Math, English, Science and IT/CDT or equivalent
Enthusiasm to learn and an interest in problem solving
Good IT skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as a team player
Although no engineering experience is required, candidates must show an interest in engineering
Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
Ease working at height, in confined spaces and at sea
