The Firm

Mishcon de Reya is an independent law firm, which now employs more than 900 people with over 550 lawyers offering a wide range of legal services to companies and individuals.

Based in London, the firm services an international community of clients and provides advice in situations where the constraints of geography often do not apply. The work it undertakes is cross-border, multi-jurisdictional and complex, spanning six core practice areas: Corporate; Dispute Resolution; Employment; Intellectual Property; Private; and Real Estate.
Mishcon de Reya has grown rapidly in recent years, showing more than 80% revenue growth in the past five years alone. In 2015, the firm moved into a purpose designed building on Kingsway, and has converted to both an alternative business structure and LLP.

The Solicitor Apprenticeship

The Mishcon Solicitor Apprenticeship is a 6 year level 7 programme. You will gain an LLB (Hons) in Legal Practice and at the end of the programme qualify as a solicitor. All of your tuition fees will be paid and best of all, you will earn a salary whilst you are training and gaining your qualification.

Four days a week will be spent working in our practice groups and one day will be allocated to study. You will work in our London office, in a variety of departments such as Real Estate,
Corporate and Dispute Resolution alongside leading lawyers on exciting cases. You will spend a year in each practice group during your first four years and in the final two years of your apprenticeship will join the trainee solicitor intake with four six month rotations. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary dependent on each departmental rotation and will increase and evolve as you progress through the programme.

  • Assisting fee earners with cases with close supervision
  • Answering phones and meeting clients
  • Supporting in the overall efficient running of the team
  • File opening and closure on case management system
  • Preparing files and bundles
  • Document management and general administration duties such as e-filing, photocopying and
  • scanning
  • Drafting correspondence and reports
  • Conducting legal research
  • Attending client meetings and generating attendance notes
  • Communication with clients both written and verbal
  • Ensuring confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation, data and information
  • Ensuring all duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requirements and
  • internal policies
  • Drafting invoices
  • Attending departmental training sessions

Skills/Experience

  • 7 GCSEs at grade 5 or above and BBB at A-Level, although we can be flexible
  • Driven and motivated with a passion to pursue a career in law
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Organised and able to work in a structured way
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

All training will be provided by our Training provider and as part of your role you will have 20% of your time allocated to self-study.
