Study for a Level 4 apprenticeship in data analytics
Our Supply and trading school leaver programme is an alternative to university. It will give you the skills and experiences you need to succeed in a business role, the option to study for a Level 4 apprenticeship and the development to help you become a high performing, valued member of the team.
As a global energy business, we lead the world in powering a cleaner, more sustainable future. And as our business is so diverse, so are the types of people we employ: from engineers and geologists out in the field, to IT professionals, research scientists, financial traders and retail workers.
Because of this, our teams come from all kinds of different cultures and backgrounds – so your career at BP is always going to be exciting, challenging and full of incredible opportunities.
This is your chance to gain experience across our Supply and trading division on a structured, 5-year programme. Together with the opportunity to gain a qualification, you can look forward to exciting, long-term career options with a future-thinking world leader.
What to expect
You’ll be placed in four different front office roles and be an active member of your team. Senior team members will act as line managers and coaches, and you’ll enjoy full on-the-job training.
You will be involved in a wide range of commercial activity in our oil and gas trading sector. That could see you analyzing market data, working with the shipping team and supporting commercial trading as part of a financial team.
We’ll give you a mentor to support and advise you on what you want to do in future. We’ll also work with you to help you define a career path that could take you into commercial operations, trading, or other parts of the business.
At the end of the programme, we’ll support you in getting a permanent role as trader or in a commercial team.
So, who are we looking for?
We believe in hiring people with the right core competencies and interest, rather than specific technical experience. That’s why, when it comes to our school leaver programme, we welcome applicants from a range of academic subject backgrounds.
Most importantly, we’re looking for people who have a real passion to work in a global business.
To be successful, you must have the ability to work on your own initiative and be able to work co-operatively as part of a team. You’ll have a keen eye for detail, excellent written, verbal communication and numeracy skills, and the ability to plan ahead and prioritize your workload.
Online application - this is your chance to show us what motivates you
SJQ - a set of untimed questions will look to see how you match up with BP values
Online tests - these will check your numerical, verbal reasoning and error checking abilities
Assessment centre - a motivation and values-based interview, a group exercise and lunch
Offer and feedback - a firm offer or guidance on how to succeed next time
To apply, you must be aged 18 or over at start of the programme in September 2020
If you’re currently studying A-levels / IB or completing further education, you must be due to complete your qualification/s in 2020 (we’re unable to progress applications for students who will be part way through their studies when the programme starts).
This programme is designed for school leavers and other individuals who do not have a degree. If you’re studying or have a degree, please apply to our student and graduate opportunities.
