The programme Our Energy business is looking for enthusiastic and hard working individuals to join our team as an Electrical Apprentice at our facility in Leeds, where the design and manufacture of Medium Voltage switchgear and transmission and distribution transformers takes place.  Learning will include attendance at college and on-site learning. During your apprenticeship you will acquire a thorough understanding our business, organisation, customers and their needs. You will begin to contribute to Schneider Electrics’ success and simultaneously gain experience of our business.  At the end of your apprenticeship you will have achieved a recognised qualification and gained knowledge of electrical principles through your continued academic studies. What you’ll do You will be trained to work in the world of manufacturing, the initial training will be broad based leading to a first appointment in a technical or commercial role, e.g. design, project management, tendering. You will be given an opportunity to work in all areas of the business (manufacturing, logistics, assembly, test, purchasing, commercial and design) to gain a broad understanding before being allocated a specific role for longer term development. Whilst learning ‘on the job’, you will also be undertaking college based study on a day release basis to enable you to obtain a formal academic qualification in engineering. The programme As part of our Degree Level Technical Apprenticeship, you’ll get to study towards and achieve a bachelor’s degree over a part-time programme, giving you a broad appreciation of engineering principles and applications. You will embark on a series of placements working alongside our expert teams, while making a real contribution to an advanced engineering & technology business. You will gain and apply practical and technical knowledge in a range of different subject areas and departments allowing you to develop personal skills while interacting and building relationships with people from all parts of the business. What you’ll do As well as comprehensive on and off-the-job training and a competitive salary, our Degree Apprenticeship will give you the experience you need to become a vital part of our future. You'll be exposed to engineering and business practices on a variety of placements, so you'll get to experience everything from marketing, solution conception, sales, tendering, project management, project engineering, system engineering and manufacturing through to commissioning at customer sites. We’ll make sure you have plenty of exposure as your placements teach you what it means to be a Customer Project Designer. During your apprenticeship, you can expect to study full-time for at least one year, then undertake placements based in Chippenham while studying part-time with short secondments to other UK engineering and sales offices. In later years, you should expect to attend occasional training programmes in Europe. Future career progression After completing your apprenticeship you’ll be fully prepared to move into a role as a Customer Project Engineer. Your aspirations need not end here, though. The Customer Project Designer and Engineer roles provide excellent launch pads for later career challenges as a Project Manager, Sales Engineer, Technical Support Engineer, Solutions Architect, Tendering Engineer and beyond. What you’ll do During your placements you will spend time learning the following disciplines: Functional Safety Principles, Cyber Security principles – including design of ethernet architectures, Our current and legacy products, Proposals, The service business – form the internal operational perspective and also in the field at the delivery end, Project management, project delivery, the lifecycle of projects and the on-going variations and enhancements.
