Apprenticeships

Our four-year apprentice scheme is all about going from student to fully qualified technical professional. If you're passionate about changing the future of banking there's no better place to make it happen.

As an apprentice development is at the heart of your programme and you’ll quickly gain a real insight into Santander working with us. That starts with a structured development programme, which will take you on a fast-paced journey that will help you realise your future. And as you meet new people, and learn all about the processes and information you need to work in your area, you’ll find plenty of room to grow.

From your very first day you’ll be supported with the training you need to work across a variety of business areas within the organisation. To help you develop your personal skills you will also have access to our online learning portal – so you’ll be able to expand your knowledge at any time on a diverse range of subjects.

Your journey with us will be based on several cycles, each using different learning styles and supported by a dedicated training provider. That could include online courses, classroom-style learning and face-to-face events, all supported by on the job experience. What’s more, once you’ve completed the programme, you’ll earn an industry-recognised apprenticeship or academic qualification.

Degree Apprenticeship
Our Data Science Degree Apprenticeship is the perfect place to realise your future. It’s a dedicated three year apprenticeship, on which you’ll develop your technical and business skills and learn how to approach and solve business problems and develop solutions. You will be taught how to devise and implement best practice using data science techniques. You will also gain experience with data analysis using some or most of the following languages R, Python, Scala and Hadoop. What’s more, you’ll earn your degree as you work, all without the expensive university fees. By the time you’ve graduated, you’ll be a trusted technical professional, working as part of a leading data team. You’ll make a meaningful difference to live projects right from the start as you rotate across a variety of data teams. The development of key business skills such as preparing and managing your own specific projects within the portfolio as well as managing key stakeholders, will compliment your technical education. You’ll be supported by some of the most knowledgeable colleagues in the business. The apprenticeship ultimately offers a permanent role with Santander and following graduation you will have opportunities to further develop your career within Data Science across the business. Where you’ll work As a Data Science Degree Apprentice, you will be based in either London or our IT hub in Milton Keynes (Grafton Gate, Eldergate, or Shenley Wood). However during your programme you may have placements at either of the offices so you need to have the flexibility to travel or move if required. All travel expenses to the secondary office will be covered by Santander. What we’re looking for in you ·       A predicted or achieved total of 112 UCAS points (top 3 A levels or equivalent calculated points only) from the new UCAS scoring methodology, in STEM related subjects ·       A minimum of 3 GCSEs graded A-C and must include Mathematics ·       A genuine interest in data science techniques ·       Customer focused ·       An analytical approach to work ·       A natural curiosity and a love of developing new skills and relationships ·       The ability to independently identify risks and opportunities, and the confidence to speak up with new ideas and perspectives Our behaviours Our people are passionate about truly listening to our customers to make banking more simple, personal and fair. What it's all about Our Digital Engineering Degree Apprenticeship is the perfect place to realise your future whilst influencing the future of financial technology. It’s a dedicated four year apprenticeship, on which you’ll develop your technical and business skills; building the relationships that could influence the rest of your career. What’s more, you’ll gain your Digital and Technology Solutions Degree as you work, all without the expensive university fees. By the time you’ve graduated, you’ll be a trusted technical professional, working as part of a leading technology team. As part of the program you will engage in all phases of software and network product development. You will analyse and translate the needs from the business into information and technical requirements. Your role will involve being part of the team that builds, reviews and implements the integration of projects across applications, systems and platforms to achieve business objectives, and ensure consistency across our  organisation. You will also collaborate with other solution architects, systems analysts, and developers to deliver the highest quality solutions via new and existing technologies. You’ll make a meaningful difference to live projects right from the start as you rotate across a variety of technology teams. The development of key business skills such as preparing and delivering presentations, or managing your own budgets and key stakeholders, will compliment your technical education. You’ll get to learn from some of the industry’s most skilled and proud technology professionals, developing the skills and good habits that will set you apart as you progress your career. The apprenticeship ultimately offers a permanent role with Santander and following graduation you will have opportunities to further develop your career within Digital and Technology across the business. Where you’ll work As a Digital Engineering Degree Apprentice, you will be based in our head office and Digital/IT hub in Milton Keynes (Grafton Gate, Eldergate, or Shenley Wood).
