An apprenticeship with us will see you building new skills, while applying your knowledge to real-world live projects. We are offering a full-time permanent Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme for talented people. This is a genuine alternative to university for people who have a passion for engineering and who want to launch their career with Johnson Controls. The apprenticeship will combine on-the-job work experience, with time at college to achieve a BTEC Diploma in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering  You will also receive training and development within the Johnson Controls learning framework, along with a national induction and performance evaluation. 

We will have approximately 30 apprenticeship roles available throughout the UK. These roles will include Mechanical & Electrical Installation Engineers, Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineers and Field Projects Engineers. 

Apprentice Electrical/Mechanical Installation Engineer:  

This apprenticeship will provide a foundation from which to progress on several career paths as either an Electrical or Mechanical Installation & Service Engineer. During this apprenticeship you will learn electrical engineering or mechanical engineering skills suitable for installing, maintaining and repairing state-of-the-art fire and security, prevention and suppression systems.   

Apprentice Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineers: 

This apprenticeship is a highly skilled technical role that requires you to produce designs for a wide range of installations to customer specification both commercial/industrial and residential. Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineers need to be very safety conscious and have good IT, mathematics and communication skills. During the apprenticeship you will learn to produce drawings and designs using Computer Aided Design (CAD), AutoCAD and additional design and prototyping software programmes. 

 

Salary & benefits

This is a full time permanent role, with a starting salary of £8,220 per annum, with salary increases every 6 months based on performance. You will also receive 25 days annual leave and a pension plan.   

 

Requirements

Johnson Controls is looking for:

- Four GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C minimum in Maths, English, Science and IT/CDT (or equivalent).

- Enthusiasm to learn and an interest in problem solving

- Self-motivated

- Good IT skills

- Excellent communication skills

- Ability to work both independently and as a team player

- Safety conscious

- Although no engineering experience is required, candidates must show an interest in engineering and working in the area of fire & security.

Following successful completion of these courses the apprentice would be allocated a qualified and experienced buddy to work / support out in the field with planned and reactive maintenance works. The first 3 months would be around a general orientation introduction to the types of sites, systems and works undertaken, followed by basic support activities. This would increase in line with knowledge and experience gained on site and via college.
