Advanced Apprenticeship

From our high-tech facilities, we craft, design and create one-off products that push technology to its limits. It’s why we offer apprenticeships unlike any other. As an Engineering Apprentice, you’ll be working with systems designers and engineers who are among the finest in their field, and you’ll work with leading-edge technology and equipment. About the programme Salary - £17,768 with annual increases rising to c£22,500 Our three-year Engineering apprenticeship is designed to give you the best start to your career, providing you with the chance to get involved in the whole engineering process. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience in a wide range of progressive tech, while also working with forward-looking customers and design engineers. You’ll have the freedom to be creative, and develop the necessary skills to deliver genuine results. And you’ll gain the breadth and depth of experience needed to become a vital part of our future. Your time will be split between college and on-the-job training at HMGCC. That way, you’ll develop a solid foundation of practical skills and technical knowledge. In fact, the whole apprenticeship is based on blended learning through classroom training, and various mentored work placements. We’ll even fund your membership with a professional organisation such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology. The future If you successfully complete your apprenticeship, you’ll achieve a nationally credited L3 Advanced Engineering Manufacture Apprenticeship. This will include either a BTEC L3 Diploma in Engineering or a BTEC L4 HNC in Electrical and Electronic or Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering. You’ll be offered a career at HMGCC as an Engineer Technician, taking either the Electronics or Mechanical Manufacturing pathway. No matter where you find yourself at HMGCC, we’ll continue to invest in the development of your skills and knowledge. In fact, if you have the potential and motivation, you’ll find boundless opportunities to progress. About you You’ll come to us with 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade A* to C or 9-4, which includes English, maths and science or a technical based subject such as engineering or product design. Alternatively, you’ll have a relevant L2 Intermediate Apprenticeship. A keen interest in engineering is important, demonstrated through your hobbies or projects completed at home or college, and you’ll have good manual dexterity. In addition, you’ll have bags of curiosity and be professional, honest and reliable. And you’ll also be a resourceful thinker; passionate about technology and eager to work with others to achieve your goals. As an IT Services Apprentice, you’ll work with some of the best IT specialists around, and get involved in an amazing range of cutting-edge hardware and software products. About the programme Salary - £17,768 with annual increase rising to £20,000 Our 18 month IT Services apprenticeship is designed to give you the very best start to your career. Your time will be split between college and on-the-job training at HMGCC. That way, you’ll develop a solid foundation of practical skills and technical knowledge. In fact, the whole apprenticeship is based on blended learning through classroom training, various mentored work placements and customer projects. And, to really top it off, we’ll fund your membership with a professional organisation such as the British Computer Society. The future If you successfully complete your training, you’ll achieve a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship. You’ll then be offered a career at HMGCC as an IT Technician within the corporate ICT Team. This could see you move into areas such as Desktop Services, Applications, Infrastructure or Products. No matter what team you find yourself in, we’ll continue to invest in the development of your skills and knowledge. Higher Apprenticeship

As a Software Apprentice, you’ll join our growing cyber team, work with sophisticated technology and equipment, and learn from some of the most accomplished software developers and cyber engineers around.   About the programme Salary - £17,768 with annual increases rising to c£22,500 Our two-and-a-half year development programme is designed to give you the best start to your career. You’ll get involved in the whole software development and test process, while gaining new skills and experience in a range of computer languages and IT systems. This will see you work with forward-looking customers and systems engineers. And you’ll get the chance to be creative, write and test code, and deliver awesome software and cyber results. In your first year, you’ll be put through a 3-month accelerated academic training phase, with face-to-face learning delivered off-the-job. It means you can build a solid foundation of practical skills and knowledge of technical programming. The rest of your training is based on blended learning through online modules, mentored on-the-job work placements and customer projects. And, to really top it off, we’ll fund your membership with a professional organisation such as the British Computer Society. The future If you successfully complete the training, you’ll achieve a nationally credited Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship, and be offered a career at HMGCC. You’ll then enter one of our Software teams, such as Development or Test & Evaluation. Wherever you find yourself at HMGCC, you’ll continue to receive investment and training. In fact, if you have the potential and motivation, you'll find boundless opportunities to progress About you You’ll come to us with a Level 3 Software Apprenticeship or with an equivalent qualification, such as an A Level in Computer Science or Maths.
